Yak-Yak-Yak, Blah-Blah-Blah

Talk.
Todays's Every Inchie Monday word is talk. I can remember when I used to be on the phone with my friends for hours talking, giggling and sometimes saying nothing. I also remember being with my friends in person and talking. One of the things I notice now is how a group of friends can be together and they are all texting someone. You can have a room full of people and about 3 out of 5 will be using their phone for something rather than talking to each other. I have also noticed how people no longer know how to talk to others. It's not what you say, but how you say it. People take offense over the least little things and become defensive because of the manner in which people talk to each other. This is a skill that is developed over a lifetime and like so many other skills, we are losing it.

I chose to draw a phone handset as my symbol of talk for this week.

  1. Yep! Room full of people all busy doing anything with their phone except making calls, it is quite amazing how remote they all become :-(

  2. I've just got a cell phone and hardly ever use it - it's really just for safety's sake when I am out and about. Good idea for your inchie.

  3. We probably are losing it. And maybe the changing ways are neither good nor bad, they just are..... and we are just nostalgic, and that's ok too. I too remember loving to talk with a group of folk. Now I dram of living somewhere deserted with only my husband & cat - the only two I love talking with.
Notice how some of us have nostalgic inchies? Yours is lovely! I completely understand it.
